Organized labor is still licking its wounds in the aftermath of the November 5th elections which saw Republicans take the Missouri House, add to their majority in the State Senate, and elect Jim Talent to the U.S. Senate. Herb Johnson, Secretary-Treasurer of the Missouri AFL-CIO, says his union and others did what they could to help elect pro-union lawmakers and there’s not much more that could have been done. Johnson says that while his union would prefer working with Democrats in leadership positions in the Legislature, organized labor must accept the reality of the election results and must work with Republicans who now control both chambers.
