The Cardinal defense was one of the best in baseball this season. They were rewarded with four of the nine National League Gold Gloves yesterday. Scott Rolen, Edgar Renteria, Fernando Vina and Jim Edmonds were the winners. Renteria was the only one who had never won a Gold Glove before. Rolen has now won four, Vina has won two and it was Edmonds’ sixth. This isn’t the first time that four Cardinals have won in the same year. In 1963, Ken Boyer, Bill White, Curt Flood and Bobby Shantz won Gold Gloves.
