State officials say they might soon be talking with the restaurant industry about its possible role in helping Missourians battle obesity. State Nutritional Health Director Gretchen Wartman says people struggle against overeating and inactivity, but get little help from a society based on convenience. Wartman says restaurants have a role to play and the state needs to be sensitive in how it approaches them about that role. Wartman says society needs to do more to help promote healthy lifestyles, rather than promote overindulgence and laziness.
