It’s time to decide the final look of Missouri’s quarter. The United States Mint has sent back five potential designs for the 24th in the series of state commemorative quarters and Missourians can vote on which design they like by going to the Governor’s website. First Lady Lori Houser Holden has headed the committee that has been conducting the competition. A year ago, 3,500 concepts were submitted. A committee cut the field to 12 and 165,000 voters decided on five finalists. The mint has modified those five designs – not altogether satisfactorily int he eyes of at least one of the designers – and now wants us to pick the quarter that will symbolize our state. The new quarters should be issued late next summer or early next fall.
