The Chiefs wanted to do more with the ball. In fact, they would have liked to had the ball, period. The 49ers chewed up 38 minutes of clock on offense, to top the Chiefs 17-13 in San Francisco. It looked like a shoot-out early on. The Chiefs held off a 49ers drive in Chiefs territory with an interception, and trailed 17-10 at the half. After that, scoring became a lost art. The only points in the third and fourth quarters came off the foot of Morten Andersen who hit a 43 yard field goal in the fourth. Priest Holmes had 51 yards rushing, but had a second half touchdown called back on a questionable holding call. Trent Green had just 193 yards passing. He hit Eddie Kennison eight times for 134 yards. Kansas City dropped to 4-5 on the season.
