Cardinal Pitcher Woody Williams is miffed that he and the Cards aren’t any closer to a new deal. Williams told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he is “surprised and a little bit disappointed” that they aren’t any closer to a new deal. Williams is a free agent and has expressed interest in going back to his hometown of Houston, where he says he’ll play for less money. When healthy, he’s been one of the Cardinals most dependable starters, going 16-5 in two seasons in St. Louis. In 2002 he was 9-4, with an ERA of 2.53. The Cubs, Diamondbacks and Braves have shown interest in Williams.
