Pentagon Tests New Ceremonial Bugle In Missouri

November 8, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri is the first state in the country to test a new ceremonial bugle to improve military funeral honors ceremonies. It’s a bugle, fitted with a device that plays a recording of “Taps” during military funerals. Retired Colonel Wayne Medley of the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program says the ceremonial bugle is better than a compact disc or tape deck and more dignified. The bugle can be “played” by any member of the military during a funeral. He or she hits the “play” button, then will have three seconds to bring the bugle to his or her lips and make it appear as though the bugle is actually being played.
