The certification of Tuesday’s vote is one of the last steps that will be taken before Jim Talent becomes Missouri’s newest U.S. Senator. The process could take a couple of weeks. Secretary of State Matt Blunt says local election officials certify their results, he signs off on them, and then a letter and a certificate signed by Blunt and Governor Holden are sent to the U.S. Senate. There was some speculation Governor Bob Holden would delay signing the certificate. But spokesperson Mary Still now says there won’t be any delays. Still says the only delay was the Governor’s Office making sure everything was properly researched and done correctly.
