An official from the Missouri State High School Activities association is surprised by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletics Association’s decision to ban aluminum bats from their state baseball tournament in 2003. Dale Pleimann is the assistant executive director for MSHSAA. He was surprised that officials from Massachusetts made the move because the National Federation of High School Associations makes those decisions. In fact, on January 1st, new rules that restrict more lively bats will take affect. Pleimann the state of Missouri wouldn’t attempt a rule change without the OK of the NFHSA.
