Two senior officers at the Missouri Department of Transportation are being demoted because of their pending marriage to each other. Sharon Schulte has been moved down to Assistant Human Resources Officer from her position as Inspector General, and Chief Operating Officer Mike Golden will now become Chief Financial Officer. Both job reclassifications result in pay cuts. When she was Inspector General, Schulte had oversight authority, even over Golden’s actions. MoDOT Director Henry Hungerbeeler says he wanted to ensure there would be no public impression of impropriety. Patt Goff becomes the new Chief Operating Officer. Roberta Broeker remains interim Inspector General.
