It’s not a matter of putting Missouri in its place – It’s a case of putting a place in Missouri. The Missouri Board on Geographic Names meets next month to resolve disputes about names of geographic features or to recommend a name for a previously un-named spot. Board Chairman Walter Schroeder says the board does not propose names. It only suggests them for federal review. And the Board only goes so far. Schroeder is a retired geography professor from Columbia. He says the board usually gets six to eight naming requests for a year.
