The head of the country’s largest small business lobby group is telling Missouri businessmen and women they have to flex their muscles to make politicians aware of the big concerns faced by these businesses. Jack Faris, President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Federation of Independent Business, is in St. Louis today – meeting with representatives of small business. He says one of the biggest issues facing small business is the great difficulty buying affordable health insurance for employees. He blames it on the high cost of doctors’ malpractice insurance, which is eventually passed on to those buying health insurance. Faris says the huge turnover in the Missouri Legislature brought about by term limits means a lot of newcomers are seeking General Assembly jobs. Faris says pressure must be brought to bear on these individuals.
