A $218,000 fine has been proposed for a Southeast Missouri business accused of exposing workers to a potentially dangerous chemical. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Midwest Sterilization Corporation of Jackson exposed workers to the chemical 16 times. A spokesman for the company says any exposure is not as bad as OSHA says, that the fines are excessive, and the exposure problems have been solved. The company can appeal the fine.
