Lawyers for a man charged in a 15-year-old rape case in Independence say the jury should rely on memories of the victim who is mentally impaired. Prosecutors say DNA evidence is the key to the case. Ronald Dennis’s trial is in its second day today. The prosecutor says the attack is what left the woman mentally and physically impaired. The DNA tests were not run until last year. The prosecutor says the DNA matches that of Dennis, who was in prison when the discovery was made. Dennis’s lawyer ways the real attacker is a former coworker to whom the woman had been selling marijuana.
