Suit Filed In Springfield Crushing Death

October 9, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against a Springfield factory where a worker was trapped in a machine and crushed last year. The suit has been filed by the mother of Gary Johnson against Carlilsle Power Transmission Products, the new owner of Dayco Products – where Johnson worked when he died. The lawsuit claims the machine in which Johnson died had a faulty safety mechanism. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration later fined Dayco $4,500 for not providing proper guards on the machine.
