Perhaps only time will tell whether or not Cardinals right-hander Woody Williams is ready to pitch. An article in this morning’s St. Louis Post Dispatch says Williams is ready to pitch in the National League Championship Series. A stain in his side and lower back pain has slowed Williams this season. He missed the entire first round because of injuries. If Williams is added to the roster, which will be released today, he’s likely to pitch in game two. Matt Morris will get the start in game one on Wednesday night. The Cards will face off with the Giants. San Francisco was a 3-1 winner over Atlanta to advance to the NLCS last night. The Cards and Giants met in the post season in 1987. St. Louis won that series and lost to the Twins in the World Series.
