Planned Parenthood has begun receiving state aid again even though another lawsuit objecting to the state contracts with the agency has been filed. The State Supreme Court ruling led to the dismissal of a lawsuit that sought to end payments to Planned Parenthood, because the agency offers abortions. The dismissal came on technical grounds and the court allowed a second suit to be filed. The lawsuit argues the State Legislature acted within its authority in denying agencies that provide abortion services state family planning money. The legislation requires family planning services be completely separated from abortion services. Planned Parenthood insists it complies with the new language. The State Health Department has awarded Planned Parenthood about $600,000; $352,000 to Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri,and nearly $244,000 to Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis.
