New Poll Places Carnahan And Talent In Tie

October 8, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The latest public opinion poll on the Carnahan-Talent U.S. Senate race puts the two candidates in a dead heat. The Survey USA poll, conducted this past weekend for KSDK-TV in St. Louis, puts the Democrat incumbent and her Republican challenger in a tie – each with 48-percent support of those polled. According to this poll, Senator Carnahan took a big hit in the Kansas City area, falling 17 points since the last Survey USA survey. It shows former St. Louis area Congressman Jim Talent gained 18-points in that part of the state. In Mid-Missouri, Carnahan gained on Talent, going up seven points while Talent fell six points. Talent is still ahead in the Ozarks, but Carnahan gained some ground in that region. In St. Louis and eastern Missouri, Carnahan remained steady at 53-percent support while Talent gained five points to move up to 45-percent support.
