Comprehensive no smoking plans are in place in quite a few states throughout the country and Missouri is trying to come up with one of its own. It’s begun a series of regional meetings to solicit input from the public. Bert Malone, Director of the Health Department’s Division of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, says the plans that have been established in other states have already given Missouri an idea of what’s needed. The first meeting was held in Chesterfield. Tonight’s gathering is in Poplar Bluff. Springfield hosts tomorrow’s get together. Meetings are set for Thursday afternoon in Jefferson City and Thursday evening in Macon and the tour wraps up with an event in Kansas City Friday afternoon.
