About 1.2-Million people in Missouri fish and about half-a-million hunt, just slightly fewer than a decade ago. Despite the flat numbers of hunter and anglers, it’s still a $2-Billion a year industry in the state and growing. Larry Whiteley is a spokesman for Bass Pro Shops, the state’s largest outdoor sports retailer. He says Bass Pro’s sales have increased in the past decade. Whiteley says some of the increase in sales might be attributed to new gadgets available for outdoorsmen. He adds his company is seeing more women buying outdoor sporting goods items.
