Show-Me Driver Moves Up to Big Show

Joplin native Jamie McMurray will fill in for the injured Sterling Marlin for the rest of the Winston Cup season. Marlin broke vertebrae in Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway. McMurray was supposed to start driving for Gannassi racing next season, but will bet a head start in 2002. He’s currently in 8th place in the Busch point standings and will continue to race the circuit this season, while also driving in Winston Cup events. McMurray joins Ken Schrader, Rusty Wallace, Kenny Wallace, and Mike Wallace as the only Missourians in Winston cup
