The death of a two-year old foster child in Springfield prompts Governor Bob Holden to ask for an independent investigation of the state foster care system. The Springfield News-Leader forced the Division of Family Services to release information that indicates the Division had not followed all of its foster care policies in the boy’s case – although the division earlier claimed that it did. And, documents released in court yesterday indicate the information the Division put out on Wednesday as “complete,” did not mention that two official requests had been made a week before the boy died that he be removed from his foster home.
