The Royals beat the Tigers 7-2. Jeff Suppan ended the season with his best outing of the year, a five-hit complete game win. It was a long time coming for Suppan, who snapped an 0-9 skid over his previous 11 starts. Carlos Beltran hit his 28th homer of the season and drove in four runs, pushing him over the century mark in RBI’s with 104. Mike Sweeney was 1-4 at the plate, dropping his batting average to .343. He trails Boston’s Manny Ramirez who leads the A.L. in hitting. Ramirez upped his average to .347 last night. The Royals need to sweep the Indians this weekend to avoid setting a franchise record for losses in a season.
