The Cardinals won their 95th game of the season with a 9-1 crushing of the Brewers. Edgar Renteria drove in two runs which gives him 81 for the season. He’s just one away from the club record for short stops, which was set in 1921 when Doc Lavan drove in 82. J.D. Drew, Eli Marrero and Wilson Delgado all hit homers. Drew and Marrero have 18 apiece, and Delgado hit his second of the season. Matt Morris pitched seven innings, earning his 17th win of the season. The Cardinals are 19-5 in the month of September. The Diamondbacks moved to within a game of clinching the N.L. West with a 4-2 win over the Rockies. The Cards and D’Backs have identical records. If Arizona wins the West and the two teams still have the same record, St. Louis would get home field advantage in the Divisional Series next week
