The St. Louis Post Dispatch is reporting that Scott Rolen and the Cardinals are close to an eight-year $90-million deal. If the numbers are correct and the deal happens, Rolen will become the highest paid Cardinal ever. Since joining the team on July 29, St. Louis has gone 33-13. Last week he was named the National League Player of the Week by hitting .421 with five home runs and eight RBI’s. He’s also a three-time Gold Glove winner.
