Senator Jean Carnahan has turned down an invitation to appear on a national Sunday morning talk show. NBC’s Meet the Press had extended an invitation to Carnahan and her Republican challenger, former St. Louis area Congressman Jim Talent. Talent had accepted. Carnahan hadn’t announced a decision until now. A spokesman for Carnahan, Tony Wyche, says the Carnahan campaign is focusing on Missouri. Meet the Press is broadcast from Washington. It has begun a series of weekly debates featuring some of this year’s closest races. At present, there is only one debate scheduled between Carnahan and Talent: October 24th in Columbia.
