September 23, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals were 7-3 winners over the Astros. The National League Central champions erased a 2-0 deficit in the first with Albert Pujols’ three-run homer. It was his 34th of the season, giving him 124 RBI’s. He trails only Lance Berkman for the N.L. lead. Tino Martinez hit his 21st of the season. Jim Edmonds, J.D. Drew and Mike Matheny also drove in runs. Chuck Finley went seven innings to improve to 6-4 on the season. With a trip to the playoffs already secured, many fans were more excited about the pre-game festivities. Before the game, the 1982 World Series winners were honored.
