The SMS Bears basketball program got another yes this weekend. 6-5 guard/forward Tyler Chaney has given head coach Barry Hinson a verbal commitment to play in Springfield next year. The Neosho senior averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and five steals as a junior. He was a first team 4A all-state selection last year. Wichita St., Providence, and Loyola-Chicago were also courting Chaney. He joins Deven Mitchell of Kickapoo and Blake Ahearn of St. Louis DeSmet who have also given verbal commitments to play at SMS.
