Chiefs Fall in OT

September 23, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

Patriots’ kicker Adam Vinatieri hit a 35-yarder in over time to slam the breaks on the Chiefs comeback bid as New England topped Kansas City 41-38. The Chiefs scored twice in the final six minutes of regulation, erasing a 14-point deficit. After winning the coin toss, the Patriots drove from their own 30 to the Chiefs’ 18 in nine plays to set up the game-winner. Priest Holmes rushed for 180 yards and scored three touchdowns. Two touchdowns were on the ground, the other was one of three Trent Green tosses into the end zone. The other two went to Eddie Kennison. Green finished 16-25 for 149 yards and two interceptions. Kansas City is now 1-2.
