The top Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives is openly questioning President Bush over the proposal to use force to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq. In an interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis Congressman Richard Gephardt says the President has been too reluctant to seek the support of other countries and too eager to have the United States go it alone. Gephardt has generally been supportive of Bush’s call to remove Saddam. But, the House Minority Leader now says use of the military should be considered only to get rid of Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction.
