Problems that have plagued Enron and other utility companies have a lot of investors cautious about putting money into utilities. Douglas Fischer of A.G. Edwards & Sons in St. Louis won’t offer any specific advice or recommendations, but he told the Missouri Chamber of Commerce’s Utility & Energy Conference some utility companies are attractive to a lot of investors. He says the reason is that in a difficult equity market, the more stable regulated businesses have become more attractive to anyone wanting to invest.
