Miss Missouri Shandi Finnessy, competing in the Miss America contest in Atlantic City, New Jersey, has won a preliminary competition. She took the evening wear event, receiving a $2,000 scholarship. Forty percent of contestants’ scores come from the preliminaries. The rest of the points will come tomorrow night, during the finals.
