Back-To-Back-To-Back Homers, Wins vs. Rockies

September 20, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Redbirds were 12-6 winners over the Rockies on Thursday afternoon, finishing off a sweep in Colorado. In the eighth inning, the Cardinals led 7-6, before exploding for five tallies. Eli Marrero, Jim Edmonds, and Albert Pujols hit back-to-back-to-back homers as part of a five-run inning. It was Marrero’s 15th homer of the season, Edmond’s 27th, and Pujol’s. Scott Rolen homered earlier in the game for his 28th round-tripper of the season. Jason Simontacchi had two hits, scored a run and earned his 11th victory this year. The Cards have three games against second-place Houston this weekend. All they have to do is win one game this weekend to clinch the N.L. Central title.
