The Royals lost their second straight, falling to the White Sox 6-1. Kansas City’s only run of the game came in the first inning with Mike Sweeney’s 24th homer of the season. Sweeney was 1–4 on the night, dropping his batting average to .342. Boston’s Manny Ramirez took over the A.L. lead in the batting race. He ahs a .344 mark. The Royals need to win six out of their last eleven games to avoid their worst record ever.
