Farm Bureau Chief Questions Governor’s Transportation Blame Comments

September 16, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

A past critic of the State Transportation Department says Governor Bob Holden went too far in his recent criticism of the agency. Holden said the Department lacked credibility. He added remarks by the Director after the August defeat of the transportation tax were “insulting to the citizens of Missouri.” Missouri Farm Bureau President Charlie Kruse says people want more accountability in how the money for transportation will be spent and he says the State Legislature failed to put in that accountability when Proposition B was written. Kruse says the Governor’s comments about the Department were unfair and not productive. Kruse wants to see the Highway Commission focus on fairly allocating the funds the department does have.
