State Rep Withdrawing From Re-Election Bid

September 12, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

An incumbent State Representative is pulling out of his re-election race after a second drunk-driving arrest in six months. Representative Tom Burcham of Farmington says he has petitioned to have his name taken off the ballot. Burcham was arrested the first time in April, and left the House for a month for treatment in a faith-based alcohol treatemnt center in St. Louis. He returned to the House in early May, saying his struggle with alcohol had increased in recent years. Burcham is in his first term in the House.
