The Missouri Green Party is hoping to use the State Auditor’s race on the November ballot to secure an automatic spot on the ballot in future elections. The Republican candidate for that office is a former felon and the Greens are hoping some Democrats and some Republicans will opt to cast ballots for the Green Party flagbearer, Fred Kennell. The Green Party is currently required to collect a certain number of signatures to be included on the ballot. The signatures would be unnecessary if the Greens could capture at least 2-percent of the votes cast for any statewide office. This year’s statewide races are for State Auditor and U.S. Senator.
