74 sailors who died when their destroyer was rammed and sunk by an Australian aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War are not listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington. Some of their crewmates have met in St. Louis to urge Congress to pass a bill that would put their names on the wall. The collision happened in 1969 while the ships were on a training exercise. The Defense Department has refused to put the names of the casualties on the wall because the ship was not directly involved in the war at the time of the sinking.
