The news is increasingly better for Benny McDowell. The Evangel University free safety broke his neck during the Crusaders 38-25 victory over Baker on Saturday night. He was unconscious for 18 minutes before walking off the field. He’ll have to wear a halo, but is expected to OK. Surgery will not be required.
