Missouri’s highest ranking lawmaker on a Congressional Defense Committee is wondering what’s the next move with Iraq. West Central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton is the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee. He says the meeting at the White House assured him President Bush is committed to having Saddam Hussein out of power, whether it’s through diplomatic. Or, more likely, military means. But, Skelton says the real question is what to do with the country once the Iraqi dictator is gone. Skelton says the only examples the U.S. has to draw on for rebuilding a nation are from more than 50 years ago. And, Skelton says this time around, just like in World War Two, the U.S. will need to have a plan of action for the execution of a possible war and the aftermath.
