Drug companies wanting to keep some records secret in the Robert Courtney case have lost a round in court. A judge says the records should be available to the public if they are used to support the positions of either side in court. The Kansas City Star had filed a lawsuit to gain access to the records. Drug makers Bristol-Meyers-Squbb and Eli Lilly had claimed the records were confidential, irrelevant, and might contain information not admissable in court. The judge has told the drug companies to decide which records should be open and which should be closed. Another hearing will be held next week to settle disagreements.
