Details are being worked out for a September 11th remembrance ceremony at the State Capitol. The Red Cross is putting together an hour-long event that will rememberthe lives lost a year ago and the sacrifices made by thousands of people who helped with rescues, recoveries, counseling, and other services. Event coordinator Don Otto says it’s important to reflect on the events of last September 11th and on the things that have happened in the year since. It’s also an event to mark the end of a mourning period. Otto says it’s a shame that a tragedy has to happen for us to see the best in people. But he says the terrorist attacks have done that. In fact, he says, many Missouri voluteers are still helping in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington. The event is at noon, a week from today, on the south lawn of the Capitol.
