The Cardinals managed just six hits yesterday afternoon in a 5-3 loss to the Reds. Starting pitcher Garrett Stephenson was making his second start since coming off the disabled list. He allowed all five Cincinnati runs in 4 1/3 innings, dropping to 1-5. The Reds scored three times in the first, but the Cardinals tied it with Eli Marrero’s two run double in the fourth inning. Cincinnati rallied for two more in the top of the fifth. That was the end of the scoring. The good news for St. Louis was that Houston lost a make up game to Texas, keeping the Birds lead in the National League Central at four games. The Cards and Reds do it again at 7:10.
