Despite a frustrating 4-7 campaign in 2001, Missouri Tiger Football coach Gary Pinkel was given a contract extension on Monday. The new deal will keep him at Mizzou through the 2007 season. The Tigers are certainly making strides in the recruiting department. His second class is considered to be one of the best in the nation. It was ranked in the top 30 in some publications. Brad Smith was a part of Pinkel’s first recruiting class. On Saturday, he’ll become the first freshman quarterback to ever start a season opener for Mizzou as the Tigers face Illinois. Mizzou tries for only it’s third winning season since 1984.
