Cards Swept By Phils

August 26, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals have no regrets about trading for Scott Rolen, but the deal has had some drawbacks. Former Redbird Placido Polanco, who was a part of the deal, scorched his old teammates with a game-winning RBI in the top of the ninth. The Phillies topped the Redbirds 5-3 yesterday. Jason Isringhausen allowed two runs in the top of the ninth and was tagged with the loss. It ended a frustrating three-game sweep at the hands of Philadelphia. St. Louis’ lead in the National League Central has shrunk to three games over the Astros. The Cardinals face the Reds in Cincinnati tomorrow.
