You won’t see Ryan Sims or Tony Gonzalez suit up for the Chiefs season opener in Cleveland even if they report to practice today. Yesterday head coach Dick Vermeil said neither one of them would be ready after missing most of summer practice. He’s especially doubtful that Sims, who was there first round pick, could be ready to go anytime before Week 4 when the Chiefs face the Dolphins at home. Gonzalez could be ready sooner, according to Vermeil, because he’s a veteran and has a better understanding of the system.
