Elementary and secondary schools in the state are starting the year with an additional $133-Million dollars in funding, thanks to the efforts from the previous Legislative session. Mike Wood is in charge of governmental relations for the Missouri State Teachers Association. He says in some cases, the extra funding thisyear could have helped districts with shortfalls in local revenues because of the lagging economy. But, Wood says the extra funding a district might have received might not have necessarily meant any more money in teachers’ pockets.
