The first human case of West Nile Virus with a Missouri connection has been identified. The Missouri Department of Health says a 38-year-old Massachusetts woman who visited the St. Louis area between July 20th and 30th became ill August 2nd after she returned home. The Massachusetts Department of Health then informed its counterpart in Missouri of the woman’s illness. While it is impossible to say, for sure, that the woman contracted West Nile Virus in the St. Louis area, Missouri Health Department officials say that finding would be consistent with the incubation period for the West Nile Virus.
