The Cardinals hit three home runs to top the Pirates 10-6 Monday night. Pittsburgh scored three runs off Jason Simontacchi in the first inning. But Scott Rolen’s three-run homer in the fourth inning tied it up. In the fifth, the Birds rallied for four runs, capped by Albert Pujols’ two-run double. Pujols connected on a two-run homer in the eight to finish with four RBI’s on the night. Tino Martinez hit a home run as well. Rolen has 19, Pujols has 26, and Marinez has 14. Simontacchi improved to 8-4, despite allowing five runs on the night. The win broke his personal four-game losing streak. The Cardinals increased their lead in the National League Central to two-and-a half games over the idle Reds.
