The Jackson County Medical Examiner in Kansas City has determined that heat and cocaine use were responsible for the death of former Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals catcher Darrell Porter. Porter died last Monday near a park in suburban Kansas City at the age of 50. An autopsy shows there was an amount of cocaine in Porter’s system. Porter had struggled with drug and alcohol abuse in the past. It was thought that he had overcome his addictions.
